Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Icy rain & sleet slam us Okies—hard!

Had to drive back from Dallas yesterday and hit the weather EXACTLY at the Liberty Mounds exit from I-75. Weird–on the south side of a curving hill–rain–on the north side–snow. From that point forward it was white-knuckle driving. My wipers frozen, the wiper fluid, frozen, ugh–visibility issues on top of driving concerns. The worst. Solution–pump the heater up as high as possible and flip the wipers to ‘orbit’ speed–it sort of worked….The last 30 miles into Tulsa were the pits, primarily because of the wiper issue. Fortunately, area businesses had been letting their employees leave early all day, and I KNOW that saved some lives. I arrived at the Creek Turnpike about 5:30 pm, the heart of rush hour, to find very little traffic. This was a good thing for me and whoever wasn’t driving on the road when I was, since by then my visibility issues had progressed so much due to the increased driving sleet that I was looking through a very tiny patch of glass at the road in front of me. This was one time I was actually relieved to drive into our driveway! It looks like we’ll be having chili and hot chocolate menus until we can chip out of this stuff! Time for some quality nesting!!!
