It’s Movie Time! PREMONITION – Starring Sandra Bullock, Julian McMahon – 2007 – Thriller – 3.5 out of 5 Stars

I’ve always enjoyed watching Sandra Bullock work. Although she is a beautiful woman, she has a very girl-next-door down-to-earth quality about her that is very appealing. You quickly feel like she COULD be your friend, and when anything happens to her, good or bad, it is easy to identify with her.
That quality helped to make the story of Premonition all the more gripping. You agonize as her character experiences the shock of learning of her young husband’s sudden death, and you want to protect her as she reels back and forth between what appears to be reality and nightmares. Like her, you have no idea what in the world is going on. Is she crazy? Is she drugged? Is she truly experiencing a premonition of things to come?
Sandra and the other cast members do an excellent job of portraying a normal family who have that normalcy suddenly shattered by circumstances seemingly out of their control. But maybe she CAN control outcomes. Is it worth a try? What would you do, given the chance to alter the future?
Don chose this movie next-to-last of the four movies I rented, because he had seen trailers and thought he knew what was coming. And, he tends to think of Sandra Bullock movies as ‘chick-flicks’, which many of them are. But, once again, he was surprised that he actually enjoyed this story, and he watched the whole thing with me! Bonus!
The DVD has a lot of extras, including lengthy interviews and discussions with people around the world who have had premonitions of things that actually did come to pass. I thoroughly enjoyed the extras on this DVD, and feel like I got more than my money’s worth from this rental.
If you like thrillers and puzzles, this might be a movie you would enjoy more than you expect.
