Yum! The Annual Christmas Fruitcake!
filed in Cooking & Recipes, Misc on Dec.19, 2008

The timing of the BC cartoon in this morning’s paper couldn’t have been better. A fruitcake sent as a gesture of friendship brings an angry response from the unwilling recipients.
The poor fruitcake has become a cliché, sadly, and there is no way I would ever send one as a gift to anyone—even an ‘enemy’. It would be such a waste! The ingredients required to make my fruitcake cost upwards of $50, and the time it takes ME to make one of these is nothing to wave off, either. So I don’t even offer a PIECE of the cake to anyone unless they are a known fruitcake-lover. And I don’t go looking for converts.
I just finished baking two of these delicious cakes, so I thought I’d share some of the photos of the process. No recipe, just photos. Maybe if you see the deliciousness you’ll think about making one of your own.
We haven’t cut either cake yet. I want to have some left to share next week!
