Whew! Christmas is over, thank goodness! Not that it wasn’t great, it’s just so tiring. Getting everything together and then cramming all that excitement, traveling, and visiting into a two-day period just about did me in this year. Our whole family congregated in one spot for a ‘short’ get-together that ended up lasting close to eight hours. It really was terrific, though, to get to talk and laugh and catch up on everyone’s news. In addition to news, we also seem to have shared some flu bugs with one another, as several of the crew came down with some nasty symptoms Friday, and more fell ill over the weekend. Bummer. This bug seems to last only a couple of days, luckily, but it’s not fun while present.

New Year’s Eve is approaching rapidly. We usually stay in and avoid the ‘crazies’ who come out only once a year to imbibe and revel. We’re crazy all year. Not really, just a little pixilated. Anyway, we’ll watch the Rose Bowl Parade on the 1st and as many football games as possible (Don will, that is). Don laments the splitting of the Bowl games onto various days; he longs for the ‘old days’ when most of the games were shown on the 1st and you could drive everyone else crazy switching channels to see bits of each game. This year we won’t be enjoying black-eye peas for good luck on the 1st. That superstition seems to work just the opposite for me, bringing bad luck all year rather than good. So no more honoring it, I say!

I hope everyone out there has had a nice holiday filled with friends and family and happy times!
