Las Vegas and NAB

Don and I are attending the National Association of Broadcasters show in Las Vegas this week. The show is huge, and loaded with vendors and all the latest technological innovations within the industry. It’s wonderful to have all of these people together at one time, especially when you are looking for answers to issues that will create more efficient workflows or solve other problems within your own production environment back home.
It’s hard to believe the size of this convention, the actual ground it covers. And it’s fun to see how many people are involved in various aspects of the graphics and video world, whether it is the vendors representing creators of the hardware and software, or the attendees who are the end users.
So, we are in our own ‘toy store’, so to speak, because we love what we do and attending a convention like this is a real treat. And, it’s in Las Vegas, baby!
We enjoy being in LV. It’s a real change of scenery for us from Oklahoma, no doubt! The weather so far has been upper 90′s and sunny, which is nice! We’ve eaten at a couple of nice buffets, but otherwise it’s McDonald’s and hotdogs, certainly nothing fancy. Vegas is pricey these days; there are no real bargains like we enjoyed in years past—wah!!!
We have enjoyed walking the Strip and gawking at all the hotels, and, of course, the other people walking the Strip. There are lots of people visiting from other countries, and you hear many different foreign languages being spoken. It’s interesting! We have noticed that there are fewer people crowding the sidewalks, however, and it also appears that fewer people are attending the NAB conference this year. The recession is having an affect, to be sure.
Don has appointments today and there are some demonstrations that we want to attend, so I’ll sign off for now. More later!
