Flat tires happen!
filed in Misc on Nov.19, 2009
One of the front tires on my car went flat just as we wheeled into our driveway the other day. Lucky for us! While we gretched and grumbled about it, we both were thankful that the flat happened when and where it did! I will be driving to Dallas soon, and the doggone thing could have held out and blown somewhere on the way there, with me by myself, on a busy Interstate.
Once again we had the two front tires replaced at Walmart, where we had purchased the one that went flat. We were shocked to see just how worn those two old tires were, but they did have a few miles on them. This car is front-wheel-drive, so all the wear and tear happens to them, and boy were they worn. The point of all this is to say: we should have been watching the tires more closely and we would have surely noticed they were needing to be replaced. But, we get so busy, and goodness knows there are a hundred and one other things to be taken care of around here. Still. We are talking safety issues here. So, we are making a promise to ourselves that we will check the tires on the first of each month. That should be easy enough to remember, don’t you think? Fingers crossed that we do it!
While on the subject just want to say that we have, once again, been very pleased with the service and prices at Walmart. We dropped the car off and received a call two hours later that the new tires were on and that the oil change was also completed. Wow! That’s really pretty fast turnaround, especially when you aren’t sitting there waiting, or trying to occupy yourself browsing the shelves in the store.
