Up With The Tree!
filed in Misc on Dec.06, 2009
We have been using the same artificial Christmas tree for quite a few years, and we have been fairly happy with it. Not happy about the chore of putting all the lights on it and then having to remove them after Christmas. No, not happy. So…..we decided to see about buying a new artificial tree this year…..there are so many on sale! But, we hadn’t the foresight to venture out on Black Friday like so many others did, and when we went last week we couldn’t find one we liked.
Megan from work came to our rescue! She suggested we look at Garden Ridge, as they had ‘tons’ of trees and we might get lucky. And…we did! We went out after work one day last week and found the perfect tree, with multi-colored lights, right there on the showroom floor. But, the display tree was the last one! Yes! They let us buy the display! No matter that it came without its original box or directions. How difficult can it be to assemble a tree that comes in only 3 parts with fold-down limbs? Not very. The hardest part was getting that tree into the back of a little Saturn wagon for the trip home.
Since the tree was essentially already ‘up’ when we bought it, we had an instant Christmas tree when we took it into the house. That little tree is pretty enough without ornaments, but we did add them anyway. Guess we aren’t that lazy yet (I’m sure the day will come, though). And for the first time, we aren’t dreading taking the tree down when Christmas is over. Whew!
This is a lot like when we finally gave in and bought a self-propelled lawnmower. I couldn’t believe then how long we had gone without it, and now I can say the same about an artificial Christmas tree that comes pre-lighted. Why did we wait so long?!
