Happy New Year 2010!

It’s hard for me to really comprehend that the year 2010 has arrived. As a child of the -ties years, 2010 sounded so futuristic, and here it is. The ‘Weekly Reader’ we read in elementary school predicted that most of us would be helicoptering everywhere, and I couldn’t wait! Alas, that didn’t materialize. Luckily the dire predictions in ’1984′ didn’t happen, either. There have been so many other things that have changed, but perhaps social changes over the years have been the most obvious. Most of these social changes have been for the better, while some have not. Overall, though, our country and our lives are better than they were ‘way back when’, and I’m glad I’ve lived to see it.
