Remembering Winter 2010

These photos show the tons of snow we enjoyed last winter. I should say the dogs enjoyed. The three larger dogs have thick, woolly coats in the winter, and they are ready to wear them out romping and playing in the frigid temperatures. The little terrier has very short, sleek fur, but he tries not to let that cramp his action with the others. We have to make him cut playtime short for his own good. He does get his time to shine, though, when summer arrives. While the other three swelter in their hot wool, he buzzes around cool as a cucumber in his buzzcut. All of them keep us entertained with their antics. I don’t know what we would do without them!
The summer heat does slow them all down some, but they love to lie in the grass and sun themselves for brief periods. And they still romp and play together, but the tongues are hanging and dripping in no time, and they drink gallons of water – it’s truly amazing how much the shepherd can hold, especially.
Summer is winding to a close. Although it’s still in the 80′s here, and some days in the 90′s as well, it won’t be long before the nights and early morning hours will be brisk. Once again the boys will be putting on their winter coats and start walking with that old spring in their step as they anticipate the next walk.
